Weigh your outsourcing options by attending this free half-day seminar!

According to an Information Security magazine 2009 Priorities survey, 48% out of the 900 respondents said that creating frameworks and policies for outsourced partners is an important initiative this year. What’s more, tightened budgets and stretched staffs may force organizations to look more closely at security service offerings, such as vulnerability scanning, messaging security, network security monitoring, managed IDS, firewall services and more.

The technology related to outsourcing has evolved. Outsourcing now provides the level of reporting intelligence that you need to expedite the process of risk management. Now you can get customized reports with a new level of granulation and sophistication - to get you the information you need in a more timely manor.

As companies weigh their options for outsourcing business processes to third-parties, there are many details that need to be considered. So how can you find out if outsourcing is the right move for you?

Attend our half-day seminar and receive the latest information on the security-as-a-service model and how it fits into your overall information security program. Independent expert, Diana Kelley walks you through the pros and cons of outsourcing and the current challenges with speed, customization and risk management.

This is your opportunity to get your toughest security outsourcing questions answered:

  • What security SaaS services are available today?
  • What are the security risks in shifting part of your business, and your data, to another company?

Session 1: SaaS Security Checklist: What and How

The promise of Software as a Service (SaaS) is compelling - an outsourced pay as you go model that delivers reduced overhead, increased reliability, and lower costs. But not all business processes and technologies lend themselves to outsourcing. To reap the benefits of SaaS without putting the enterprise's critical assets at risk, companies need to consider what best fits the externalized SaaS model. In this session we'll cover:

  • What are companies doing with SaaS providers for security?
  • SaaS offerings - Application Providers (ex: SalesForce)
  • Security scanning (ex: Qualys)
  • Collaboration and Storage in the Cloud
  • Consideration on which data/servers are best for SaaS environments
  • Successful policies and education for employees

Session 2: SaaS Security Checklist: Data, Management and Liability

When an enterprise uses a SaaS - who owns the data? What is the liability if a loss or outage occurs? How much money will the company really save is a SaaS solution is adopted? Spending a few moments to think through these points before moving to a SaaS vendor can save time and aggravation down the road. In this session we'll cover:

  • Who will own the data and transferability issues
  • Understanding "hidden costs" and savings calculation
  • Licensing and support
  • Which risks can be transferred and which can't
  • Quantifying cost of loss for data leakage and downtime

Session 3: Managing SaaS Risk

Before signing on the dotted line, make sure the agreement has your enterprise covered. A SaaS provider should be able to prove to your organization that they use acceptable processes and controls management throughout all aspects of the service environment. Considerations for managing SaaS risk include understanding their hiring processes, relevant certifications, and right to audit clauses. Other topics covered in this session:

  • Vetting the SaaS before signing on the dotted line
  • Processes and procedures
  • Certifications and Audit (SAS70, ISO, PCI)
  • Creating effective Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
